What an amazing weekend! This past weekend, I traveled with F2W to McCaysville, Georgia. McCaysville is a small, picturesque, mountain town located on the boarder of Georgia and Tennessee. I was invited by 1st Baptist Church of McCaysville to be the guest speaker for their annual fall youth retreat.
I have two things to say: 1) God is awesome! And 2) if you don’t personally know Him you are really missing out. Not only did God show up this weekend but he rocked my world. Let me hit the highlights for ya.
There was a great praise and worship band from Cherokee County Georgia. Larry and the youth in the band did an awesome job leading everyone in worship. While there were drums, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, piano, bass guitar, and background vocals, it was not a “show”. The band continued to focus everyone’s attention away from themselves and on Christ. Rock on guys and gals, you got a gift!
During the weekend I had the privilege to meet some truly dedicated adult leaders. Lead by a wonderful youth pastor, Andre Collins, these volunteers focused all of their energy on making this weekend a great one for the youth. This is a youth program that really cares about its kids, and it shows.
And of course the youth. What a great bunch of kids! I had such a great time speaking to them, worshiping together, and simply hanging out. I was impressed at their desire to pursue God in their lives and their openness to share with a total stranger.
God continues to blow me away. I am so humbly honored to be on this journey with him. – Ike Boyette
