This Thursday is Thanksgiving. For most of us it is a time of copious amounts of turkey and all the fixings. This of course is followed by the loosening of the belt and unsnapping of the top button of the pants, followed by the ever relaxing 2 hour long turkey coma. I think this is a tiny peak inside of heaven! I am not saying it is biblical, but it could be. --------------------------------------------------------- But this holiday gets me thinking; I truly am blessed. I am not saying my life doesn’t have ups and downs, but even in the lowest of lows God stands firm and continues to shower his love on me. Unfortunately, what I tend to do is to stay focused on the lows or the things going “wrong” in my life. When this happens God, in his awesome love, will usually refocus my attention. Like this past weekend in Bay St Louis. ----------------------------------------------------- A friend and continued passionate volunteer for F2W, Barry, and I went down to Mississippi to do some carpentry work for Jeff and his family. This family is simply trying to achieve some normalcy in their lives. Not that they are doing horrible, because they are not. But they are still struggling financially and emotionally with the effects of the hurricane. And here I am thinking I’m struggling because I am trying to find some answers. Answers for crying in the sand! I have a home. I have clothes and lots food. I am going to get presents this Christmas. No, I think things are pretty good here with me. Thank you Lord for continuing to remind me how blessed I am. This holiday, what are you focusing on, the ups or the downs? And what do you have to be thankful for? ------------------------------------------------------ Thank you God for family, friends, this wonderful country and those who protect it, the opportunity to serve you, and most of all, thank you for your son, who so freely gives love and grace to those seeking him. – Ike Boyette
